An abnormality

“Holy crap! What the hell are you doing up at 11:00 on a Saturday that Daniel is in Chicago?”, you might be saying.  I was saying the same thing when I woke up this morning at 6:30.  And the answer:  working my ass off.

I got an e-mail yesterday afternoon that a large group of volunteers had fallen through for the removal of a wooden play structure (cable/board bridge, decks, slide, etc.) at the Urbana First United Methodist Church.  They were asking for any volunteers to show up from 8:00 to 12:00 today.  I decided that I would go, so I went to bed a little early and actually got up early.  We worked very hard and we had all of the wooden structure down by about 10:30.  That cable bridge was going to be a bitch, because the cable ran through every board…but I noticed that the whole thing was bolted to a few of the end boards.  After removing those end boards, we were able to just move the whole damn thing out, in one piece, without needing to cut the cable in between every board.  Yay me!

I ended up leaving early because I got some dirt in my eye, leaving me practically useless…my left eye is my stronger eye, after all.  So, I came home and I took care of my eye.

Now, I’m going to go for a bike ride, assuming that my tires aren’t flat.  Later this afternoon, I’m going to the range with Josh and Dan, one of Josh’s fellow volunteer firefighters.  It’s good that we’ve got such beautiful weather today…

Matt is going to the Demo Derby at the fair tonight, so I might even tag along with him…it would be one of the most action-packed days I’ve had in quite a while.

Toodles.
